(SEMASA) Kenny Rogers ROASTERS broadens their corporate social responsibility horizons

Kuala Lumpur, 23 February 2016 – In celebration of the Chinese New Year season, Kenny Rogers ROASTERS (KRR) further enhanced their social efforts through numerous community-driven initiatives which included their recent visit to Tong Sim Senior Citizen Care Centre at Kampung Baru Salak Selatan.

The humble home of 21 residents comprising of elderly folks and 6 caretakers welcomed the KRR team for a day of fun-filled activities. The event kicked off with a Chicken Dance performance by KRR, followed by a sing-along session where all were aboard to chime in cheerfully from classic to popular favourites during the session. After that, the residents came together for the Rolling in Prosperity game where each tried their luck at rolling a life-sized dice to get the word fortune in Chinese.

“As an organisation that advocates having a healthy lifestyle, we believe that nutrition should be accessible to everyone regardless of age. Today, we are happy to bring joy and share our time with the residents of Tong Sim Senior Citizen Care Centre. It is these precious moments and the look of delight on their faces that are most rewarding to us,” said Ms. Ling Shiau Yunn, Guest Engagement Manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.

“Collaborating with KRR on this journey has never been a dull one. All year round, we are constantly providing healthy food to those who need it the most. It has shown us that having someone to celebrate the day with and having a sumptuous meal is what matters most,” said Mr. Rick Chee, founder of Food Aid Foundation.

As part of the Malaysian tradition during the Chinese New Year festivity, the KRR team incorporated a Yee Sang tossing during the event. Red packets and goodie bags with chicken essence and other healthy refreshments were also given to the residents of Tong Sim Senior Citizen Care Centre.

Before the event concluded, the elderly folks and caretakers received 27 sets of KRR’s latest T-Wrap Chicken Meal and bottled water.

Approximately 200 meals and red packets were distributed and 5 homes were visited this Chinese New Year including Pertubuhan Kebajikan Chester Rawang Selangor, Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Amitabha Johor Bahru, Happy Old Folks Home, Sabah Cheshire Home Kota Kinabalu. This initiative is part of the “I Love for My Community” campaign under the KRR Community Chest umbrella aimed at bringing a healthier community for a better tomorrow to life. For KRR, being socially committed is a continuous and growing effort to provide and give back to society.
